1960 Fender Bassman 5F6-A
1960 Fender Bassman 5F6-A
Here we have a great example of one of the most important amps of all time, if not "the" most. I mean really, what can't you do with one of these? There isn't a bad sound in this thing! Even at low volumes it has an incredible clean tone. Zeke’s Guitars & Mercantile is happy to have this incredible-sounding Fender Bassman in stock but we’ll be sad to see it go.
It's tough to call it a "player grade" but it is. However, the most important tone factors are there. It still has the original transformers, most of the original Astron caps, original cab, re-coned original speakers, and even though it's been recovered, it was an old job and it looks as if it really belongs.
The tweed was replaced with black tolex along with 60's grill cloth. We can assume it was many years ago based on the wear it has. They did a good job. The Jensens are missing the bells, helps with the weight, and were re-coned at some point and sound great. Strong yet still smooth. Basic maintenance and some caps have been replaced as needed. A bias adjustment pot has been added, easily reversible to original but it seems like a handy mod to have. Replaced fuse holder, heavy duty handle, 3 prong cable added, blue jewel added. Treble chicken head knob tip is missing. There are some replaced screws on the back panel.
