1965 Epiphone Coronet
1965 Epiphone Coronet
We think these are so underrated. Which is good considering the price Jr’s go for these days. Right?
Made in Kalamazoo at Gibson with the same components as their stepbrothers and sisters. This one rang out noticeably quite a bit when we first acquired it. Then we changed the original lightning bolt tailpiece for a Music City Wraparound Tailpiece “The Savvy” and everything increased from really good to great! We can’t praise that product enough.
The frets have quite a few miles left on them but will need to be addressed in the not-too-soon future. The nut is in the same condition, a few slots were low and have been filled in to get some more life out it. It has some dings and or chips in the finish but no cracks, etc.
All that said, it still plays and sounds great and any attempt to reach one of those Albert King bends are still possible.
We love how this one tapers up from the narrow nut width up to a pretty chunky profile.
